The conditions and tides are excellent this morning, sunny with a light breeze and warming into the mid 70s.
We first start by running the Everglades boundary markers looking for Triple Tail and Cobia with no success but the water was a little dirty in the gulf so it didn't seem right then we headed for the creeks, an emerald green water color on an outgoing tide is my favorite and thats what we had.
We caught 13 Snook averaging 26 inches with the largest being 36 inches and estimated at 15 pounds. We lost several more that we larger to underwater structure.
We also caught 14 Redfish the largest was 8 pounds and 29 inches with large shoulders but most were around 22 inches. In the mix were 15 good sized Black Drum about 4-5 pounds, 5 Trout and countless Snapper. We burned 11 dozen shrimp in 4 hours.
Around the Miami area we are catching small Grouper and Snapper on the wrecks
and on the flats we are catching Sharks of all sizes in Biscayne Bay. I have not been Bone fishing in over a week but there were some small schools to the south.
The next full moon I expect a good shrimp run on the outgoing tide in Biscayne Bay.
This should produce a great Tarpon bite around the bridges close to Miami,
along with the Tarpon we will be catching large Mangrove Snapper Trout and
large Ladyfish.
In Whitewater Bay in the Everglades Tarpon Tarpon Tarpon in and around the back bays on calm warm mornings. They will eat live ladyfish and certain color artificial lures. Some of the schools are thick enough to walk on it seems.
