Captain Steven had the pleasure of welcoming 3 generations onboard Sundays Charter. John, son Jason, Joe and Dick  were all onboard by 8 am and we made a short run to the Ft. Desoto area.

The plan was to focus on docks and canals then transition to some hot trout action as the day warmed. Jason was first into the action with a solid sheepshead. The action was fair on sheepshead nothing to brag about so after 45 minutes we pulled anchor and headed for another canal.

As we eased out of the protection of the wind we were surprised to see white caps screaming in from the North East. My trout canal was dead into the wind so I bypassed it and ran to another long channel somewhat protected from the winds.

John soon scored with a chunky black drum and Jason kept catching the bigger sheepshead. Grandpa would catch one and Jason would catch a bigger one. Joe lots a bigger sheepshead but it flipped off before getting in the boat. The 2 Ft. Desoto trout holes I have been scoring on was also a windy ride so I stayed close to cover.

Every time we moved it seemed we would get the bite started quickly then die off soon after. The water temperature dropped 3 degrees overnight at 56 degrees. Super group of guys made for a super day on the water even if the bite wasn’t red hot.
