Lake - Table Rock

KimberlingCity Area: More rain this past week has brought the lake to just shy of season pool and stained the water throughout the lake. Both of these factors has moved fish shallower over the past week. Jewel football jigs remain one of the top offering, brown purple flash and PB&J three eighth ounce jigs with green pumpkin J tail trailers have been producing largemouth and smallmouth on gravel and mixed rock and gravel points through out the mid lake area. The deep bite has not gone away, ROBO and Chompers drop shot worms worked close to the bottom in these same areas twenty five to thirty five feet deep will produce some very nice spotted bass.

James River: The water has very good color in the James River; fish have moved shallow over the past week and can be caught close to the bank early and late. Buzz baits and shallow crankbaits are working on shallow flats during low light hours. As the day wears on move out to twelve to fifteen feet deep and use Chompers Ultra Tubes and Jewel Football jigs fished on gravel points and banks will produce  both numbers and quality. In the upper reaches of the James and Flat Creek a very good shallow crankbait bite has started around laydowns and other wood cover. 

White River: The rain added good color to the White and Kings Rivers over the past week as well. While not as shallow as on the James River, fish have moved shallower on the White. Jewel half ounce football jigs in PB&J or green pumpkin green flash with green pumpkin J tail trailers and Squirrel heads with finesse worms have been accounting for most of the fish. Look for gravel and mixed gravel and rock points to be the most productive, work baits from fifteen to twenty five feet deep in a hopping motion to draw strikes. Up the Kings River the shallow crankbait bite has come on very strong, look for schools of shad in the backs of feeder creeks and pockets around wood cover, throw RC or other square bill crankbaits around the cover to draw strikes.

Dam Area: The lower end has better water color as well, while still relatively clear anything to move fish shallower is welcomed in the dam area. Most of the fish are still being caught deep on drop shot rigs and spoons; Robo and Chomper worms in plum or MMIII have been the best colors fished twenty eight to thirty five feet deep on gravel flats and roll offs. On sunny days a few fish have been taken on large commercial docks with an Eakins jig and craw combo, pitch the jig to shady areas to be effective.

Lake – Taneycomo

Things have remained constant on Taneycomo over the past week, during periods of generation jigs have been the best bait followed by little Cleo spoons spinners. When the water is slack inflated night crawlers and Gulp Eggs are the ticket on drift rigs. Two inch Jewel Sculpins in green pumpkin fished on a sixteenth ounce jig head have also been very effective, work the bait slowly along the bottom.
