LAKES

ANDERSON: Use Rat-L-Traps and crankbaits off rocky points for bass. Tube baits work in the south end. 408-927-9144, 408-463-0711.

BERRYESSA: Approach this lake early or late. Sun takes a toll on the angler and the bass during the day. Use topwater along weed edges, or drop shot along weed lines. If that fails, fish rock piles. 916-502-3474.

CAMANCHE: Limits of bass come from the dam in the morning with topwater lures. Switch to drop-shotted plastics in the afternoon. Catfishing is good at night. Upriver is a good spot. Trout still come to trollers 40 feet deep near Hat Island. 209-763-5915, 209-763-5166.

CHABOT: Catfish is the only game here. Biggest of the week was an 11 1/4-pound cat landed by Ken Kruse on Tuesday with mackerel from west shore. 510-247-2526.

CALERO: Bass and bluegill can be caught here. Use redworms under a bobber for plentiful bluegill. Bass are wary. Try frogs on the mats in Bailey and Cherry coves. 408-268-3883, 408-463-0711.

CLEAR: Catfish bite is strong along shallow areas near Nice and Lucerne and to Kelseyville. An algae bloom on the Clear Lake side has made that water unfishable. Bass are in deeper water toward Konocti Bay and Konocti Harbor. Crappie are near docks in the area. Bluegill are near tule beds and islands. 707-994-3474, 707-279-4739.

COYOTE: Crappie bite is very good from the dam and near the launch ramp. Most are using wax worms, but

small minnows also will work. Bass fishing is fair with jigs off main points. 408-463-0711.

DEL VALLE: Striped-bass bite is very good near the dam. Bass weighing 18 and 14 pounds were caught last week. Catfish are being caught at Hetch Hetchy. 925-449-5201.

LAKE SAN ANTONIO: Stripers are in coves across from Harris Creek, There also are boils near the marina. Smallmouth bass are near Harris Creek, too. 805-472-2818, 800-310-2313.

LOCH LOMOND: Bluegill are plentiful along the west side near the island. Small bass are caught in the same area. 831-335-7424.

MCALPINE: Catfish are biting cutbaits in the morning. Trout will take gold spinners, while bass are particular to melon red senkos. 831-623-4263.

NEW MELONES: Kokanee bite is outstanding. Trout and bass fishing are very good, and catfishing is in a fine summertime mode. Kokanee limits come from the main lake near the spillway/dam and mouth of Carson Cove. Spotted bass are putting on a steady bite upriver. 209-586-2383.

PARDEE: Find trout and kokanee at the south end of the lake near the dam and mouth of the river, 20 to 50 feet deep. Shore anglers get trout at Rainbow Point with Power Bait and Power Eggs. Catfish are in the south end. 209-772-8108.

SAN LUIS RESERVOIR: Best fishing is at the forebay, mostly small stripers and catfish. 408-463-0711.

SAN PABLO RESERVOIR: It's transition time from trout to catfish. Trollers have to get down 30 feet for trout. Bank anglers are getting a mix of trout and catfish. Early morning is best. There has been a decent bite around 4 p.m. at the Pines. 510-223-1661.

SANTA MARGARITA LAKE: Bass fishing has become quiet. Some redear, bluegill and crappie are being caught, but crappie are somewhat elusive. Catfish 2 to 3 pounds are caught near the dam and Vaca Flat. 805-438-1522.

UVAS: Most bass are small, but a 5-pounder will get hooked. Catfish bite is best at night. 408-463-0711.

DELTA

FRANK'S TRACT: Fishing is fast and furious with senkos and frogs, but fish are small. No stripers. A Snag Proof Open Tournament will be held July 31-Aug. 1. 925-625-2441.

RIO VISTA: A lot of undersized striped bass are being caught, but a 30-inch bass was landed this week at Rio Vista Bridge. Montezuma Slough is producing sturgeon. Quality catfish are in back of sloughs. 707-374-2372.

BERKELEY: Flat water has allowed boats to get out to the Farallons and return with limits of rock cod with a handful of lings. Potluck boats are getting just less than two fish per rod of halibut and stripers. Seal Rock has been a good spot for halibut. On Wednesday the Happy Hooker found bass on the rocks in the central bay and had nearly a fish per rod by midmorning. 510-849-3333, 510-223-5388, 707-334-4827.

CAPITOLA: The swell has kept sardines off shore. Rock-cod fishing has been so-so. Striped-bass fishing from the beaches has been quiet. Nine-pound striper was caught from the Capitola Pier on Sunday. 831-462-2208.

EMERYVILLE: Limits of rock cod come back from Farallons with a few lings. Pot luck trips average a halibut per rod with a few striped bass. 510-654-6040.

MONTEREY: The Caroline out of Chris' Sportfishing on Monday landed five salmon. Rock-cod boats to Point Sur get quality sacks every time out. 831-375-5951, 831-372-7440.

PACIFICA: Anchovies are few, although some are coming in near the South Bar at high tide. 650-355-8303, 650-359-9790.

PILLAR POINT: Quality rock-cod fishing can be had at Pescadero and the Farallons. Good numbers of cabezon and lings are available. 650-726-7133, 650-726-2913.

SANTA CRUZ: Trips to Ano Nuevo get quality reds and browns and a few school fish, making for hefty sacks. 831-662-3020, 831-427-2334.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY: Pier anglers at Oyster Point get small sharks and rays. Halibut fishing in the South Bay has slowed. Stripers are scarce. 650-589-3474, 510-703-4148.
