Redfish are the species providing lots of action. I went out last evening (5pm-7pm) armed with live shrimp and frozen blue crab bought from Rick's tackle shop. Fishing the intercoastal waterway not far from Beach Blvd. I took my frozen blue crap and cut it into quarters, since it was a large crab. I put that on a circle hook and soaked it on the bottom, not far from the grass. Within 5 minutes, I had a 26 incher in the boat.
With the live shrimp, I had one flounder on but he did not take the bait fully and cut it in half. Typical of flounder. I should have given him more time before my hook set.
I hear the Mayport jetties are producing monster reds on crabs, since the spawn is still going on.
