Fishing south Beach area in Miami has been very good for Tarpon. On a average nightly basis we are jumping at least 3 fish per trip minimum and they are 100 to 150 pounds. Late afternoon and early evenings are best. The Tarpon are eating live crabs and hand picked shrimp on a 4/0 circle hook.
Around other parts of Miami we are catching 40 pound Tarpon regularly on live Pilchards.
We are trying a new method that seems pretty successful and will talk about it more on the next report.
Florida Bay in the Everglades is loaded with tailing Redfish. Also around some of the islands out front we are getting into schools of Snook in the 8 pound range.
We have targeting them on fly lately and doing well when the hooks don't pull!
These Reds are in real skinny water in big schools tailing everywhere.
Sunday we boated 5 in 1 hour on crab flies and Kwan shrimp patterns.
If we are fishing spin them I am throwing either Rapala Trigger X jerk baits in money color or Berkley Gulp jerk bait.
On the west coast we are catching Snook on Skitter-walk top water lures around certain creeks on outgoing tides.
