This time of year you never know what kind of fishing trip you may have. The weather can change at any time with the cold fronts arriving. It’s normally better before the front and things can shut down after the front. I would say that most trips we do manage to have a great time and catch dinner.
Anglers aboard the Reelin & Chillin caught sheepshead, mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel, redfish and flounder. Trout are out of season November and December, so it was catch and release action when one was hooked.
Angler Jeff Underwood wife Debbie and friends Dick and Jeannie White had a great day on Sarasota Bay. It looked a little like chicken for dinner at first – catching small sheepshead, pinfish, grunts, lizardfish, a small red or two with one slot flounder wasn’t going to cut it. We kept hitting spot after spot trying to find some hungry fish and sure enough towards the end of the trip we hit pay dirt. Four nice slot size redfish ended up in the live well and blackened redfish was scored for dinner. It just goes to show - keep moving and never give up - it’s your best bet at getting into some hungry fish this time of year.
Bait used was live hand-picked shrimp from Hart's Landing Bait located at 920 John Ringling Causeway in Sarasota Florida.
