Tampa Bay Redfish action remains red hot! Captain Steven departed O’Neill’s Marina at 9 am with anglers Dan & Dave for a day of chasing redfish on Tampa Bays eastern shoreline.
It took a few minutes then Dan had back to back redfish. Dave working the back of the boat was catching ladyfish! Both were using live shrimp on 3’ of leader, a 1/0 hook and a small split shot bait. Keeping the shrimp in contact with the bottom is key. The action was not the 100+ fish from last week but steady.
We caught numerous small redfish then slam! A large redfish over 30” joined the party. It took almost 10 minutes to land as it made run after run. More small redfish then another monster red! We took another 5 reds then moved on. Our next stop we found fast action on spotted sea trout and ladyfish. We were targeting dark muddy bottom areas 5-8’ deep. We switched from shrimp to DOA CAL jerk baits and the hot bite continued.
