Fished yesterday and caught one sea trout. I have some beautiful big shrimp from Rick's bait and tackle and fished them on a jig head very slow. However, it wasn't until I only put a small piece of the shrimp on the jig, did I get some hits. So it seems, the smaller the bait the better. Captain Schurr referred to this in his post as well.
The fish are here, the key is to getting on the schools.
Another neighbor fished and caught some nice reds with mud minnows.....but fished in only one foot of water. The reds are going where the water is warm. Most of the ICW is 52 degrees. You need to find the pockets that are 54 or 55 degrees.
Also, another guy I know did well with cut mullet, fished Carolina rigged style. This makes sense since more smell the better, plus it's low energy for the fish to chase.
So the fish are plenty, but different techniques bring different results. Again, my large shrimp were useless, until I broke them into smaller pieces on the jig.
