I have lived and fished here in Jacksonville for more than 35 years, and I have never seen the abundance of Redfish that are around this year. They are stacked up in the creeks, podded up along the Intracoastal Waterway, schooled up in Deep water in the Saint Johns River, and pushed up along the Rocks at the Mayport Jetties. They will eat just about any bait you throw at them, natural or artificial. The freezing weather we experienced last winter followed by the massive amounts of bait fish and shrimp we have seen this summer, might be one reason for all the Redfish. I am not sure if last years freezing temp's was the trigger for the Redfish invasion but I do know that I like it.
