Lake - Table Rock 10/24/10: Kimberling City Area: Water temperatures continue to drop through out the lake with averages in the upper sixties and low seventies from the dam to the upper ends. While fish are on the move following bait fish they remain scattered in a variety of depths. Jewel football and spider jigs continue to be a dominate bait on the mid lake, look for fish to be on transition banks and points as shallow as ten feet deep early and late and then backing out to twenty five feet deep when the sun comes up. The spoon bite around deep docks is still effective but has lost some of it’s productivity over the past week, three quarter ounce War Eagle spoons on heavy fluorocarbon line are the ticket twenty five to forty feet deep.
James River: The river bite remains strong with both numbers and quality fish coming out of shallow cover. Jewel Eakins jigs and Chompers Ultra Tubes worked around laydowns and shallow brush have been producing from Cape Fair to Asher Cain. Shallow crankbaits and spinner baits have been very good on windy or cloudy days in these same areas, make multiple casts from different angles to draw strikes from fish holding in and around cover. On sunny calm days Eakins jigs and Ultra Tubes around docks will produce five to fifteen feet deep.
White River: As usual the White River has the most diverse fishing on the lake. Fish remain shallow on transition areas and points early and late, these fish can be caught on Jewel football and spider jigs as well as Squirrel Heads with finesse worm trailers. Look for areas where chunk rock transitions to gravel on the main lake and in the creek arms to be the most productive areas. Up the Kings River the same shallow patterns working the upper James are effective; look for shallow wood cover in pockets and creeks to hold both shad and fish.
Dam Area: The smallmouth migration from deep to shallow water continued over this past week; fish are still scattered but greater numbers and better quality fish have begun to show up on shallow gravel / rock points and flats through out the lower end of the lake. Jewel Spider jigs and Chompers tubes worked along the bottom from ten to twenty five feet deep have been very productive. The deep dock bite has been best on the lower end: three quarter ounce War Eagle spoons on heavy line worked in shady areas of large docks is still producing big fish.

Lake – Taneycomo 10/24/10
Light generation has been a boon to fly fishermen below the dam while the lack of consistent current has frustrated some anglers down stream. Best bet for spinning anglers has been Gulp or Power Bait Eggs on a drift rig worked in deeper pools or on the edge of flats. Jig fishermen continue to catch fish but the bite has slowed some over the past week, lighter jigs on spinning outfits worked closer to the bottom or micro jigs below an indicator have been most effective.
