McCloud Reservoir - August 19th, 2010 RECORDED: 90 ° FISHING: Excellent The fishing at McCloud Reservoir for the past 6 weeks has been outstanding. I have been fishing clients, family, friends and we all have been amazed at the abundance of Trout and beautiful scenery. All methods of fishing have produced nice Brown and Rainbow Trout from 6-inches to 25-inches, most being in the 12 to 18-inch range. Today was no exception, my Dad (who has been feeling pretty good lately) and I fished all through the afternoon and into the evening and we landed 5 nice Brown Trout the biggest being over 20-inches and 4 pounds. We also landed many smaller Rainbow Trout while trolling Seps dodgers with a woolly bugger. Jigging a Buzzbomb over suspended Trout enticed two of the Browns to bite. The other 3 Browns were caught while trolling slow and deep with flies and the Seps dodgers. Now that school is back in the Reservoir will being seeing much less traffic making the fishing even better. McCloud will fish well into winter as long as the snow allows access.
***Salmon Season on the upper Klamath River is just around corner we should start seeing Salmon sometime around mid September, last season we landed a fish on September 11 and by the 15th the river was fishing steady for Salmon all thru October***
