Lake - Table Rock

6/6/10:

KimberlingCity Area: The top water bite remains strong early and late in the day. Spooks, Sammy’s and Pop-R’s have been effective on gravel and mixed gravel and rock banks, watch for schooling fish to find the best locations. Once the sun comes up these same locations will yield a mixed bag of smallmouth and spots on Jewel Football jigs, Squirrel heads and Carolina rigged lizards from fifteen feet to twenty five feet deep. When the Corps is generating current these same fish will move to nearest point, key on the steeper side of the point to be successful. A deep bite is starting to shape up on long tapering gravel points throughout the mid lake, watch your electronics for fish to be holding close to the bottom twenty – five feet to thirty feet and fish Chompers drop shot or Robo worms on a drop shot rig.

James River: The Corps shut the water off over the weekend and water levels rose slightly, this subtle rise in the water moved fish back into the bush and turned the flipping bite back on. Jewel J-Lock jigs, Chompers Ultra tubes and Brush Hogs have all been effective flipped into flooded bushes on flats and in the backs of creeks. Early and late there is a buzz bait bite beginning to take shape on flats up the river as well. During the heat of the day a deep diving crankbait bite has started to shape up on gravel roll offs. Look for points that roll off into deeper water to produce both numbers and quality once the sweet spot is located.

White River: Fish can be caught in a variety of ways through out the White River; in the Baxter area large schools of Kentuckies has started to show twenty five to thirty five feet deep on flat gravel points and in deep trees on channel banks. Drop shot rigs with Chompers worms and Robo worms have been effective in both locations. Further up river around Big Creek and Campbell Point Jewel football jigs and Carolina rigged brush hogs on gravel points will produce smallmouth, spotted bass and largemouth, key on steeper dropping sides of the points in depths from fifteen to twenty five feet deep. In the Kings River fish have moved into shallow brush on gravel flats and pockets, on sunny days flipping Eakins jigs or Ultra Tubes will produce, on windy or cloudy days a Chompers McCutchen spinnerbait is tuff to beat when worked around flooded brush and stumps.

Dam Area: The White bass bite is still going on early in the day, topwaters will work when fish are actively schooling on the surface, once the surface activity slows switch up to a half ounce spoon and work below the schools of bait to get fish started again. Kentuckies can be caught on drop shot rigs on flat gravel points twenty five to thirty five feet deep or in deep trees on channel swing banks. Further up Long Creek the flipping bite has turned on in a big way, look for flooded bushes on flat banks and pitch Texas rigged brush hogs or lizards into heart of bushes to draw strikes.

Lake – Taneycomo

6/6/10

Off and on current has made for very good fishing over the past week; jigs are still the top bait through the trophy area through Branson, sculpin, grey and white colors in eighth ounce when water is running and lighter with less current. On days with stronger current Little Cleos and Super dupers are producing in shallow riffle areas., micro jigs below an indicator are working in the deeper pools and swings on these same days. From CooperCreek to Rockaway drift rigs with live night crawlers or Power Bait or Gulp eggs will produce on every drift.
