Lake - Table Rock 5/23/10: Kimberling City Area: High water this week has made fishing fun through out the mid lake area, flooded bushes are holding post spawn fish shallow, these fish can be caught by flipping Jewel Eakins jig and craw combs or Chompers ultra tubes, buzz baits early and late or spinnerbaits on cloudy windy days. Look for isolated bushes that are completely covered with water on flat points and pockets to be the most productive. The topwater bite continues to produce early and late, bluff ends and deeper standing timber have the been the best areas, with spooks and red fins accounting for most of the action.
James River: Dirty, high water has meant a great flipping bit up the James River. Eakins Jigs and Ultra Tubes are accounting for most of the fish, with flooded bushes and laydowns holding both numbers and quality. Above Cape Fair these has been a great spinnerbait bite on cloudy windy days; a Chompers McCutchen spinnerbait in chartreuse shad has been tough to beat around flooded cover. Closer to the confluence with the White River Jewel Football jigs in PB&J with a J-Tail trailer have been effective on the deeper sides of flat points from fifteen to twenty five feet deep.
White River: The White River arms stands as a testament to how great a fishery Table Rock is; right now you can catch fish from the bank to fifty feet deep and just about anywhere in between. The flooded bushes and laydowns on flat banks are holding numbers of fish as well as quality; Eakins jigs, Ultra tubes and flukes will produce several bites from Baxter to Eagle Rock. Post spawn fish are suspending in deep trees and can be caught on topwaters early and late and single tail grubs or drop shot rigs through out the day. In between several fish can still be caught on gravel points using a split shot rigged fish doctor or Jewel Squirrel head with a finesse worm, look for fish to be fifteen to twenty five feet deep on flat gravel. These same fish can be caught on a PB&J Jewel Football jig with a green pumpkin J – Tail or Carolina rigged lizard.
Dam Area: Depending on where you are in the dam area the water is either very clear or stained, run off from last weeks rain is coming through Long Creek and has added quite a bit of color on the Long creek side of the dam. Flooded bushes are the ticket on the lower end as well; Eakins Jigs, Ultra Tubs and flukes are all producing fish in the flooded cover. Jewel Pro Spider jigs with J tail trailers have been very effective on gravel banks beyond the moss line to twenty five feet deep. The top water bite continues to be very good early and late and should continue for at least a few more weeks. Up Long Creek a very good buzz bait bite has developed in the morning, run the lure over flooded bushed on flats from the Arkansas line on up.

CURRENT!!!!!! The Corps has been running four units almost non stop all week making fishing tougher than usual. Heavier jigs have been effective in sculpin, white or grey. Little Cleos and Rooster Tails have been producing good numbers of fish from Cooper Creek through Branson and micro jigs with eggs below float will produce in the slack water of creeks and sloughs. As usual when the fishing get tough Power Bait or Gulp Eggs or half a night crawler will produce on a drift rig from Fall Creek to Power Site.
