Live snook still exist, and we’ve been catching them. After a brutally cold winter and extremely low water temperatures, snook are still alive and hungry. Yes, there are hungry snook still out there. They might be way in the River, but they are there. The River is both a good fishing place and a bad one.Warm water is plentiful in the River during the winter, making for a great place to fish, but it can be troublesome for those that don’t know the waters. It can get real shallow real quick.

Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been fishing in the River, where warm water exists, and we’ve managed to catch at least one or two snook each trip. The redfish bite has been good too with both numbers and size. Most of the bigger fish take a bit more time to land, but they are well worth the hard work in the end.

We have also been catching snapper, flounder, sheepshead, ladyfish, and trout.During the last four trips that I’ve had, we’ve caught a slam in the River.A slam includes a redfish, snook, and trout.Although this winter was a very cold and long one, it hasn’t kept us from fishing.Fishing is still good, and it is just going to keep getting better as spring finally rolls around. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
