Unfortunately, this is not really a fishing report since I have not been out in awhile. Come November in west-central Illinois, most sportsman are targeting whitetails and waterfowl. However, I did want to offer a quick update on the invasive Asian carp status in the Illinois River. Two electric barriers are operational in the upper Illinois River to prevent Asian carps from reaching Lake Michigan. Due to the necessity to shut down one of the barriers for maintenance, a local-scale chemical treatment to the river will occur in early December to ensure that no Asian carp make it upstream of the barriers. The maintenance should take no more than a few days and hopefully this treatment will ensure that the Asian carp are kept at bay.
