Fishing Point a La Hatche in the face of Ida We had a two boat charter on Saturday with Matt and Gwen Craddock of Covington along with their children, Matt Jr., Kim, her boyfriend, Derrik and 9 year old grandson, Colin, in the face of - at that time - Hurricane Ida. A beautiful cool boat ride out with a slight easterly breeze. Our first stop was Cox Bay where Gwen immediately hooked a 7 lb redfish followed by several rats and a couple of trout; then to August Bay "Craig's Corner", where we picked up 30 trout starting out with live shrimp then switching to "Artie-Fishals" Glo/chartreuse split tail stingray. When they quit biting it was off to Mud Lake, wind getting stronger, we fished the dead ends and pockets all the way to Back Levee Canal. Gwen caught the most fish including 4 of the 6 redfish; Colin was excited with every fish he caught - especially with his 16 inch trout and his 7.5 lb. Sheephead! Not bad for an iffy day just ahead of a large storm. The Craddocks had a great day on the water and you can, too! Come fish with Captain Don and make your own Memories!
