Apalachicola, Florida Fishing Report

This area is vast and I fish the entire west coast as first an adventure and second a fishery.  The area mentioned is only a proximity to where I really fish as I prefer to keep the area quiet with as little fishing pressure possible to ensure my clients a serene and productive day on the water.

The absolute best sport is tarpon fishing with a fly rod. In June and July hundreds of tarpon make their way around the rim of the Gulf of Mexico and I follow them wherever they go starting in Homosassa in May. This area is the best tarpon destination in the world, but little known.

The rest of this year Trout, Redfish, Pompano and Flounder are what most Georgia folks like to catch and eat.  So we fish for these species much as possible.  Other fish that pull the drags to scream (but not great table fare) are ladyfish, blues and mackerel. Some days the action is so good you will want to quit. But, know fishing is fishing and sometimes the catching can be a challenge if the conditions do not warrant.Same goes with the tarpon action, if you do not book early, then you may be on one of the off days.Weather plays a role in success or failure. But the guides I use don’t give in easy and will try their best to make it a great day.

My trips are all inclusive and include lodging, meals and the guide. *Imagine staying at my home where you will be treated to a real southern cooked meal after some fresh hot coffee and juice. Then walk down to the boat ramp and hop in for a 4 miles ride out into the protected waters of St. George Sound.

I have a few recent pictures I took to share with you so you can see how clear the water is here.

If you are interested in actually taking a fishing vacation, then we urge you to go with the best guides available on the ForgottenCoast of the Big Bend of Florida. You will have the best guides available on these trips if you book early.

In these photos where these were landed you could actually see the fish before casting them with either Cotee jigs or on fly fishing gear.

To inquire about these trips sign up with this site and we can discuss it on the thread.

*Some anglers would rather stay at a nearby hotel or if the home is occupied that would be a requirement. My home accommodates 3 anglers plus myself. These are the most affordable adventures in Florida because I know how things are with the economy, so when a price is quoted, there are no hidden fees.
