Redington Beach Long Pier Fishing Report (Aug 30)

The pier is very productive right now, as large pods of bait fish are around.  My best advice is to purchase a sabiki rig and catch you white bait first.  There are two sizes of white bait around, large and small.  You need to try and catch both kinds to match what the fish are currently feeding on.

Take three poles with you:
1) One rigged with a gotcha plug and leader for mackeral.  Lots of good macks around hitting bait.  Kids love the action they provide.  They will also hit your white bait.

2) One pole rigged with a sinker and leader and 1/0 hook.  Very good sized flounder will hit your white bait on the bottom.  Very good eating.

3) One rod setup for snook.  That means just a swivel, leader and no weight.  Free line your white bait about 20 yards from shore in the surf.  Snook sit there and ambush bait.  Some are quite large in size.

Cost to fish the pier is $10.  Fishing is best in morning and after 5pm.

A good spot to fish right now and until winter hits.
