I fished the intercoastal today, starting at 9:30am until 12:30. I fished the grass areas, up a ways off the main channel since the water was high, between Beach Blvd and Butler.
Bait: Live shrimp (bought from Rick's bait shop), just off Beach Blvd. Also casted jig heads with green colored Gulp soft bodies. Look like mud minnows and/or finger mullet.
I anchored off grass in 12 feet of water, throwing to the grass edges. Hooked 3 sea trout right off the bat, but was unfortunately on the cell phone at the same time with work. Lost all three, but were decent fish. Shrimp float rigged.
I moved to the main channel. Worked a shallow mud flat, off a creek mouth. Caught a keeper flounder on the jig/green gulp bait combo. I then caught this real nice redfish, just under the slot on a float and shrimp. He faught real hard and made several runs.
Special thanks to Rick's Bait Shop.....they always have a great selection of bait (shrimp, mullet and mud minnows) and also offer good tips on what is going on.
