St. Johns River south to Green Cove Springs: The bream bite remains OK around Julington Creek. There has been good striper and sea trout fishing under the bridges from Dames Point to the Shands.

St. Johns River from Green Cove Springs to Palatka: The mullet run is officially on at the Shands Bridge. These are fat river mullet. Some small panfish are being caught there, too, on small hooks and pieces of worms. Bass fishing on Lake Santa Fe is as good as it gets.

Lake George area: The mullet remain thick, but most of the lake is slow after what should have been the last spawn of shellcracker and bluegill on last week's full moon.

Area lakes (Lochloosa, Orange, Santa Fe): If you want to bass fish this weekend, you could not pick two better lakes than Orange and Santa Fe. If you're looking for panfish, Lochloosa remains the most consistent piece of water around.

Rodman Reservoir area: The catfish bite in the old barge canal is still red hot.

Elsewhere: There are still bluegills biting early and late at Hanna Park. But there might be some new rules coming out of there this week after a dog was attacked and killed in the pond by an alligator over the weekend. Check with the rangers before heading there.
